Education
1. Deaf school support
Deaf school support helps pay for very poor children with a range of hearing difficulties to board at a local primary school with specialist teachers. Both classrooms and dormitories are very basic. A number of deaf children also now attend secondary school, or a Vocational school.
The Project needs money for:
-
salary of a cook and a matron
food e.g. potatoes, porridge, veg (parents also bring a sack of beans each term)
-
firewood
-
treatment at local clinic whilst boarding e.g. for malaria
2. School fees for physicially handicaped children
The project helps with school fees for about 20 children who really show their potential ability despite their disabilities. These children include 4 physicially handicaped children at Mengo, Kampala; Christopher at Makobore boys secondary school in Rukungiri who has a hand-propelled bicycle (see front of newsletter 2) and Simon Peter a blind boy who we found recently. Some of these disabled children are also orphans and so there really would be little hope for them if it were not for this project.
The Project needs money for:
- school fees
- petrol to transport the children to and from school every term in the Ambulance
